Site Build It Review

Site Build It has given me an amazing freedom for which I am very grateful for. The ability to run online businesses means I can earn excellent money working for myself from anywhere in the world and do it all part time.

Time is the most important thing it gives me. Money follows close behind. It means I can spend a lot of time on my fitness, I can travel, I can spend more time with friends and family and I can do interesting things or start weird and wonderful projects. I don't have to cram all my fun into the weekend as everyday is a weekend for me.

I spend about 2-3 hours a day on average working on my businesses and that sustains a very comfortable lifestyle. Sometimes I work harder and sometimes I take weeks off on end. It is all my choice. My businesses are still growing and so is my income.

It was hard work getting to this point. I would spend 10-15 hours per week every week for about 3 years working on my businesses, getting them to a point where they could sustain me. And I did that while working a very demanding job as a Naval Officer, which included a lot of time at sea.

None of it is down to luck. It involved a lot of hard work but absolutely zero amounts of luck. All I did was follow a proven process which will always succeed if any person can marry basic common sense to a good work ethic over a long period of time.

The process is no secret and it is available to everybody. If you want to put in the hard work for a couple of years you too can kiss good bye to the need for employment for the rest of your life. You can put yourself in a very healthy financial position and all it will require is a small amount of part time work whenever it suits you.

This is the stuff dreams are made of. Literally. And anybody can make it happen if they follow the right process and dedicate themselves to it.

The Formula For Success Online

There is a simple procedure that can be followed for success in online business. It sounds easy, and on one level it is, but people very easily stuff it up. Basically you do four things:

  1. Create original, valuable, relevant content that people want to read.
  2. Position your site in such a way that you get traffic from search engines, Facebook and other outlets.
  3. Gain the trust of the visitors to your site by providing a credible information source.
  4. Earn money by subtly leveraging your visitors through advertising or selling them a helpful product that they want and need.

However most people do not follow this reasonably simple procedure. And even if they do there are ways people can easily stuff this up at each level of the chain:

  1. They plagiarize material from other sites or provide content that is uninspiring or nobody wants to read.
  2. They cannot get traffic because they choose a topic with low demand or over-saturated supply.
  3. They cannot achieve the trust of their visitors either through poor content or trying to oversell.
  4. They try and sell poor quality or unrelated products or they oversell and drive visitors away.

Get it right and you will be onto a winner. Get it wrong and you will see a lot of your valuable time go to waste.

There is so much information on the Internet about how to create a successful website. A lot of it is misleading or purports to shortcut the process. People promise quick results in order to get you to part with your money.

The best information on the subject was written in 1999 by a man called Ken Evoy. His e-book was titled "Make Your Site Sell." The book was extremely popular because the concepts were sound and they made perfect sense. You got that sense that he wasn't try to bullshit you. He told it how it was, gave it to you straight.

Essentially the message was that there is no quick fix and the Internet does not deliver miracles or bend the normal laws of business. You will have to work hard, gain customers and win their trust, provide something of value and then you will make sustainable sales and have a sustainable business.

People took the good advice and went to implement it. Some succeeded, but most did not. The reason was that the technical hurdle was too high.

Exceptional people will be able to leap the technical hurdle. But it takes time learning how to do that on your own. Most people however do not have the ability or nous to navigate these technical issues on their own. This is through no fault of their own. It is a specialist field. Anybody can have a crack courtesy of cheap domain registration and hosting but to be proficient is quite a skill.

Ken Evoy realized the problem and he understood that his book was not enough to help people succeed online. The book could give people the right attitude and the right formula but it could not deliver the massive amount of technical knowledge required to be successful online.

So he developed a new product. This was a system which could facilitate the ability for a person with average computer skills to create a successful online business. He calls it "Site Build It" a.k.a "SBI" and it has been a raging success, helping many everyday people around the world escape the drudgery of employment.

I used Site Build It when I first began exploring the idea of building an internet business. Foolishly I gave up after a few months because I thought I could go it alone. I would spare the expense of Site Build It and just figure it out on my way. I tried blogging and I did not succeed.

Humbly I returned to Site Build It a year later and this time I dedicated myself to using its teachings a processes. A further two years later and I had a successful online business.

Why Site Build It Is Different

Point and click web building software is quite common on the Internet. Site Build It is not unique in this regard. The reason it is so good is the training and education and this is why it is more expensive than other options.

It does not just teach you how to build a website. Anybody can put a website up these days. It teaches you how to build a business. This is very different from just slapping a site up online with cheap and easy hosting.

There is a significant difference. A website can join all the other millions of websites out there that get hardly any visitors and therefore make hardly any money. An online business attracts large numbers of visitors and converts a portion of those into money making opportunities.

The difference between success and failure on the Internet is the ability to get traffic to your site. It is a numbers game and it is both a science and an art. Site Build It teaches you sound principles and will help you create a website that does not sit idle, but attracts traffic that is willing to part with dollars. Because that is the key in the end. Not how pretty the template is. The SBI action guide helps you out every step of the way.

This is their philosophy:

CPTM

"CTPM" or Content - Traffic - Presell - Monetize is a concise summary of the formula for success I outlined earlier in the page. Excellent content, which drives huge traffic, who give you their trust due to your excellent writing and are then prepared to part with dollars.

Site Build It will hold your hand every step of the way. And if you are already experienced at building websites it will let you take a more independent approach while still offering guidance and support.

Without this system I would still have been floundering around trying to rustle something together. Now I have three high traffic websites, two big earners and one that is more for the passion. I owe my success to the education I received from Site Build It.

There is no point reinventing the wheel. Learn from the success stories that have gone before you and emulate their processes. Just like a scientist will study the works of others for years before he does his own independent research.

The service is not cheap at USD$299 per year. But the value in the complete package is well worth the investment. It is an investment and needs to be thought of in that way, not as a cost. Even when you sit down and compare it penny for penny SBI works out better in the long run. If you follow the system you should earn your money back within the first year and then everything from there is pure profit. For beginners you will succeed faster with this than any other system and far faster than with traditional webhosting.

What I like most about Site Build It is the attitude that building a business is damn hard work. It does not promise thousands of dollars for very little work. It promises a long hard slog, no schemes or scams, but with a very tangible reward waiting for you at the end.

The freedom of time and money that is available through Internet business is so brilliant that you only have to dare to dream it. Anybody can do it, you just have to actually get off your bum and make it happen.

Criticisms Of Site Build It

There are criticisms of Site Build It and most of them are very valid. I'm going to cover the negatives to provide balance so you know what they and whether or not they apply to you. Just because I think this product is great does not necessarily mean you will.

They Have Ugly Templates

One of the original criticisms of the service is that they have ugly amateur looking templates. I completely agree. The templates they provide you with are not that flash. They have improved and released better ones in the last few years but they are still not the best available.

Site Build It's response is that the template doesn't matter, it's the words on the screen that count. To an extent they are right. I know of some exceptional websites that have a rubbish design. But for most you give yourself the best chance of retaining visitors with a nice slick looking site.

This criticism does not really stand up to scrutiny however. You can use templates from elsewhere and upload them yourself or even come up with your own completely unique design. You do not have to use the templates they provide you. I use a template that I got on a free site elsewhere and modified it to my own needs. Here are some examples of some good looking SBI sites.

Most SBI Websites Suck

There are some atrocious Site Build It websites out there. You can tell who they are easily because they all use the same clunky looking template. The reason they suck is because they look bad, the writing is horrible and there does not appear to really be a solid theme.

While this is true it does not reflect poorly on Site Build It. It reflects poorly on people who create bad websites. The tool is great but it is just a tool. Some idiots will take it and make something amateur. There are plenty of good looking sites with excellent content out there from Site Build It that turn a decent profit. You can seriously make money with SBI.

A bad site is a reflection of the webmaster, not the host. Site Build It will lead you to water but even some people are incapable of drinking no matter how much you help them.

You Only Get One Domain

Most web hosts allow you to host unlimited domains with the one package. You have to purchase each domain name separately and pay for it but they can all be with the same host. For example it might cost you $9 per month for a cheap hosting package and it will keep costing $9 whether you own one domain or twenty.

With Site Build It you pay $299 and you get a hosting package for one domain only. If you want a second domain you pay another $299.

I agree that this is a major flaw. Ken Evoy's argument is that you should only be focussing on one site at a time and that there is no point in having twenty different sites if you are trying to make money. While I do not understand why you cannot put more than one domain on a single Site Build It hosting package he does make a fair point.

Many people think that the more domains they have the more likely they are to make money. They put up lots of mini sites but never really create anything of substance. If you utilize Site Build It properly you should be earning well beyond $299 that the expense becomes irrelevant. And focussing on one site at a time until it is very profitable is excellent advice. It doesn't excuse their stinginess on that front but it is a very worthwhile attitude.

I Gave Up On Site Build It But Came Back

I actually gave up on Site Build It after I first tried it. I thought it was too expensive and that all Site Build It sites looked ugly. So I learned how to code my own website and created my own design for a blog.

It looked brilliant and I began blogging with gusto because that's what everybody seemed to be doing back in 2008. I grew to hate blogging very quickly. There was always a feeling of pressure to keep pushing out more content. It was very much a monkey on my back. And I was not getting any traffic because I was not using a proper keyword structure. I thought I understood the philosophy of building a good website but I was incredibly naive.

In the end I went back to Site Build It and was a lot more mature as a webmaster. I studied their lessons again but this time I really took them to heart and absorbed them. The first time I had only really skimmed them and thought I would do my own thing anyway.

This time was better because now I had coding skills but I also had the humility of failing and the unwavering desire to succeed.

Find Out More About Site Build It

There is an abundance of free information on their website about the product and how it can help you. They have several free e-books as well that provide lots of good advice. Make Your Site Sell, the book that spawned it all is the best and is still hugely relevant today. Even if you never end up making a purchase you will take away some valuable lessons.

I would recommend you have a look at the SBI Video Tour to begin with. To see what other people have achieved there are the success story videos and case studies. There is also a good page about SBI for students and how it can help them. Another good thing to look at are the SBI Results, which show a track record of success for people using this service.

You can also their team any questions you have about the service.

I am very happy I went back to Site Build It and now that I am more experienced and have profitable sites I am more than happy to stay there. The service has its fair share of downsides, like anything, but the benefits are so good that it is worth staying. You cannot get what they offer in one package anywhere else.
